An awareness program on World Mental Health Day was organised in collaboration with the IQAC, District Health and Family Welfare Department (Udupi), Office of the District Mental Health Program Officer (Udupi) and Office of the Taluk Health Officer, Karkala. As the resource person, Dr. Shashank Shetty, Psychiatrist, Udupi, highlighted key ways to maintain mental well-being. He advised students to avoid unhealthy self-comparison, practice daily yoga and meditation to manage stress, and stay away from harmful habits like smoking and alcohol.
Principal Dr. Manjunath A. Kotian presided over the program and stated that students, who have a long future ahead, must know how to maintain both their physical and mental health. It is only when individuals develop a sense of responsibility toward their own lives that they can live as good citizens in society. Students should live in a way that they do not become a burden to their parents and guardians, and programs like this on mental health serve to be truly beneficial in achieving that aim. Dr. Sandeep Kudva, Karkala Taluk Health Officer; Mr. Huchheshwara Naikar, Health Supervisory Officer, District Health and Family Welfare Department, Udupi; Mr. Shashidhar H., In-charge Health Education Officer, Udupi District; Mrs. Deeksha, Community Staff from the Mental Health Department, District Health and Family Welfare Department, Udupi; Dr. Vijaya Kumari, Students’ Welfare Officer of the college; and Mr. Lakshminarayana K. S., IQAC Coordinator were present on the dais.
